Description of Travel Account In this 1839 edition, the main body of the text is divided into two parts: part one and part two each comprise eight letters. These two parts are preceded by a memoir of the life and achievements of the author and are followed by an itinerary for visiting the Giant's Causeway from Belfast. The various letters address the natural and human history of the North Antrim coast of Northern Ireland.
Hamilton first published these Letters in 1786. Subsequent editions in 1790, 1800, and 1822 were more generously illustrated.
