Jenkin Thomas Philipps

Biographical Notes	Translator and Tutor, of Welsh origin. Studied at University of Basel where in 1707 he gave a Latin oration on the 'Uses of Travel', which was published in London in 1715. Worked as tutor from 1717-1720. In 1726 he was tutor to the children of George II. In 1732 he was appointed Historiographer Royal, a position he held until he died. He also translated and compiled a number of historical works.
