Biographical Notes	Author of dissertation number 18 submitted to the prize contest of the Académie de Lyon. The reviewer, count Laurencin, wrote: "It is the twin brother ('pendant') of the Guillestre beggar". This is an allusion to the author of dissertation no 18, Pierre Gendre, a merchant from Guillestre (see there). Laurencin found it amusing to almost misread Gendre's "marchant" (merchant) as "manant" (beggar) - indicating its lack of quality. The same judgement is this mirrored here.
