While the entire book of Baudelot de Dairval's "De l'utilité des voyages" is a handbook on antiquarian travel, it is in particular its prefatory letter (Lettre à un Amy), the first section ('De l'utilité des voyages') and these remarks at the end, under the chapter "Mémoire de quelques observations générales qu'on peut faire pour ne pas voyager inutilement", that belong to the apodemic tradition.
