Authorship Notes A literary critique of the genre of travel writing. Critical of the commercial imperative towards writing entertaining accounts. Knox comments 'The style of voyages and travels should be plain, simple, perspicuous, and unaffected', and continues 'I think they seldom appear to great advantage'. Knox values 'the truth' for its own sake and as such adds 'It is then an useful attempt to endeavour to clear a species of books, which are capable of doing much good'.
