Oration by Hermann Kirchner pronounced by his student Georg Haunschildts von Fürstenfeld. It argues that travelling abroad or at home ought to be done by those seeking praise for either their learning or worthy actions. This piece is 'Oratio V' in Kirchner's 'Orationes' (1599). An English translation was included by Thomas Coryat in his 'Coryats Cudities' (1611), which is described elsewhere in this database under the title 'An Oration made by Hernann Kirchnerus'. |
