Satire on the practice of Grand Tour. The anonymous author divides education into two categories: the national and foreign. Travel should be undertaken by 'ingenious and duly qualify'd youths, under the Guidance of of Men skill'd not only in the Knowledge of Literature but of that World, through which they are to pilot others'. In contrast the text mocks the 'unfit' youths ('Bears') and their hapless tutors ('Leaders') who have become an 'itinerant joke'. |
