This - as per rules - anonymous dissertation of 6 pages was submitted to the 1764 prize contest of the Académie de Lyon. It praises the civilizing effect of travels. The author re-uses Rousseau's famous opening line from the 'Contrat social' ('L'homme est né libre' - 'Man is born free'), but continues by stating that nothing keeps us in one specific spot.
