Molesworth uses a discussion of travel, health, and liberty to meet his true objective of a critique and attack on the Danish monarchy. He uses a number of apodemic conventions to this end recommending travelling for gentlemen who have so much knowledge of their own country that they can compare it with others and make effective use of their acquired knowledge. He criticizes 'the foolishness of sending young boys abroad' in case they return with 'an affected Foppishess, or a filthy Disease '. In general however he recommends travel as an antidote against the ‘plague of Tyranny’. |
