This text is at the meeting point of two traditions: ars apodemica and merchant handbooks ('ars mercatoria'). It consists mostly of practical advice for the road. However, this advice is limited to commercial travellers, and some comments are also made on the utility of travel. The most original item is a table for calculating the costs of travel for various outcomes.
