Oration by Hermann Kirchner pronounced by his student Karl Claur. This is 'Oratio VI' in Kirchner's 'Orations' (1599). It is a dissertation against travels, which positions itself against Georg Haunschildts von Fürstenfeld's praise of travel (also included in Kirchner's 'Orations', 1599, and described elsewhere in this database). The title, "Non esse peregrinandum", is likely to be a reference to Erasmus's "De ratione studii" (1511), which gives a series of two-sided questions on various pedagogic practices, including "peregrinandum esse, aut non esse peregrinandum". |
