A satirical and clownish travel account of Coryat's European travels through France, Italy, Germany, and the Low countries, performed in 1608. Coryat's main text is preceded by numerous prefatory verses in a comic mode, many of which subvert and play on apodemic ideas of the educational, moral, and practical value of travels. The main text is also followed by a substantial 'Posthuma Fragmenta Poematum', collecting the poetry of Coryat's late father. |
