Authorship Notes A brief text by a merchant called Pierre Gendre who considers himself uneducated, and has no knowledge of the world of prize contests. The profile of the author is unusual, and its author was turned into ridicule by the reviewer of the contest, count Laurencin. The text suggests that all social classes benefit from travelling, in various ways, but does not discuss exactly how, because the author is afraid of becoming boring. He suggests that one can always learn more by travelling than by staying at home.
